Getting a massage when you’re sick sounds like a good idea, sometimes that’s a time when you feel the need for extra relaxation. But is NOT A GOOD IDEA!!
Getting a massage when your body is already trying to fight off an illness, could actually exacerbate the symptoms and prolong the healing process.
While massage does in fact detox the body, boost the immune system, and release tension, getting a massage while sick will make you feel worse.
Massage increases circulation throughout the body, pushing fluids through the lymph system. So being sick when you get a massage, you’re basically pushing the sickness throughout the body.
A good rule of thumb for waiting for a cold to pass is a week after symptoms has started.
